Project Kicks Off With Pre-Construction Meeting

The Expansion Blvd SW Project kicked off on Friday, March 6, 2015 with a pre-construction meeting.  These pre-construction meetings are developed to get all the parties together regarding the project to talk about any issues there might be and to develop a timeline for the the project.  This pre-construction meeting was attended by staff from the City of Storm Lake, the project engineer, the contractor and his sub-contractors, and the local utility companies.

Contractors, utility company representatives, project engineer and City staff meet to discuss the details of the project.
At this time the contractor is anticipating getting started around the first of April on the project.  The weather will play in a role in making that start date a reality at this time!

While most of this project is off the main road and there will be a minimal impact to the general traffic that uses Expansion Blvd. there is a storm water  line that will have to be installed under Expansion Blvd.  Discussion on how and when that will be completed was discussed at length during the pre-construction meeting.  Right now no official date has been targeted for the construction of the pipe but the contractor does anticipate some disruption to traffic during this phase as the road will be cut open and then placed back.  We will post more once we get closer to this date here on the blog, so check back often and follow us on Facebook for more updates!
